This week our local theatre chain, which frequents independent films, is presenting us with "Amazing Grace"- a film highlighting the efforts of one person who follows his heart and does what is right.
"William Wilberforce (Ioan Gruffudd, Fantastic Four), an idealist Member of Parliament, navigated the world of 18th century backroom politics to end the slave trade in the British Empire."(Landmark Theatres 2007)
One of our unifying goals at CMHE is to promote higher education and advocate social change. This film touches upon a vital chapter in the strive for human equality. Even now, in the present day, we continue striving for this equality facing yesterday's obstacles and narrow-mindedness. We hope that this film will inspire us in our endeavors for social change, and reassure us that justice in equality can and will be attained, as long as we are willing to take those steps.
We invite you to join our friends at CMHE to see "Amazing Grace" at the Neptune Theatre. Show starts Friday Feb 23rd and runs until Thursday Mar 1st.
So, come join us for a trip to the movies! We will meet at Covenant House at 12:45pm and head over as a group.
